Biography: Data was built by Doctor Noonien Soong in 2335 at the Omicron Theta colony. Soong's first three androids were failures, with the first success being Lore. Lore's dangerous behavior prompted Soong to disassemble him, and built his fifth positronic android being Data. Data was deactivated and left on Omicron Theta when the crystaline entity attacked the colony. He was later discovered by the crew of the USS Tripoli in 2338. Data joined Starfleet in 2341, however it was questioned whether or not he was entitled to civil rights as a citizen under the Constitution of the United Federation of Planets. Data's first assignment was the USS Trieste. In 2364, Data was transferred to the USS Enterprise-D as operations manager. He took command of the USS Sutherland in 2368 during the Klingon Civil War. That same year Data's head was found in an archaeological dig in San Francisco, California, where it had been for 500 years. Shortly afterwards, Data was transported back to 1893 Earth from Devidia II. In an attempt to stop the Devidians, Data's head was left in 1893 and his body transported to 2368 and reattached by Lieutenant Commander La Forge. After the destruction of the Enterprise, Data was transferred to the Enterprise-E. In 2371, he installed an emotions chip which he learned to control furthering his quest to become more human. In the Borg incursion of 2373 he was captured by the Borg and had organic skin grafted to his body. He served on a Federation sociology team observing the Ba'ku. While on the Ba'ku planet he discovered Admiral Dougherty's and the Son'a attempt to relocate the Ba'ku population.
