The Yeager was built at the ASDB Intregration Facility at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, Mars. This ship can be seen in the background scenes of the Deep Space 9. It has an Intrepid-class primary hull attached to a Peregrine-class hull.

The DS9 Technical Manual calls this simply an Intrepid-class variant, the Yeager-class name is unofficial. The ship class has the same name as the Saber-class USS Yeager NCC-61947. Unless that ship was destroyed this class should have a different name. The DS9 writers wanted a Yeager-class while First Contact already had a ship with the name Yeager.

   Named after Chuck Yeager, the first man to break the sound barrier. The Yeager has been seen in the backgrounds of DS9 in several    episodes.
