Classified as frigates, the New Orleans-class is similar to the Galaxy-class in design, only much smaller. They appear to have twin torpedo launchers on the primary hull, though, those could be something else. This class has been in service since the mid 24th century, and are in continued use by Starfleet.

A study model was made for this class of ship and seen very briefly as the Kyushu in the ship graveyard in "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II". Named for the ship we called the City of New Orleans.
