The Type 5 shuttlecraft came into use by Starfleet during the late 23rd century. It's design is similiar to
that of the starship design of the era.
The Type 5 was first seen in "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier". The shuttle was designed by Nilo
Rodis and Andy Neskoromny. The miniature was built by Greg Jein. Two full-scale exterior mockups
were built for the film, one of which was later modified and used as a shuttle on The Next Generation.
